Friday: what to expect & how to prepare

Gals, our new study series, His Girl, starts THIS Friday, September 20th at 7PM. Here is what you can expect.

6:30pm

Doors open for cupcakes and fellowship

If you like to bake and have a favorite fall cupcake recipe (or one you've been dying to try) plan to bring a dozen to share.

7:00pm

Study starts

Bring a Bible and a journal or notebook to take notes. I'm even gonna suggest that you get a new one and use it just for this series. You should have a good set of notes by the end of the study series.

8:15pm

Prayer time and worsip

Preparation:

Pre-Read: Before Friday night take some time to read over 2 Chronicles 20:1-29. Kelley will be referring to this passage during the study time and it would be good to have this scripture fresh in your memory bank as she will not be reading through the whole thing.

Pray: Ask the Lord to prepare your heart to receive from Him. Ask Him to give you a ministering heart for those around you and a willingness to be surrendered to Him.

The His Girl Logo:

As we will be walking through this series, His Girl, I thought about how in our culture today it can be overwhelming and even scary to take God's Word for what it says and act on it. We are called to be a gentle and quiet spirit, we are called to love our neighbor as ourselves, we are called to be in this world but not of it, we are called to seek His glory not our comfort, we are called to stand for truth and speak the truth (in love) in a time when absolutes are so not cool, we are called to love God with everything we have. To some degree it should be overwhelming because it is impossible. It is impossible apart from God, apart from our belonging to Christ, apart from the power of His Spirit in us. The impossible becomes His ability in and through us. So as we walk by faith and are willing to be His Girl I want us to see our position under our loving Father. In Psalm 91:4 He gives us an image of His strong and mighty feathers shielding us, protecting us, covering us. There are several other passages where we see this picture. Take some time to look at them all and see that as we abide in Him, living in the shelter of the Most High (Psalm 91:1) He's got us covered.

Psalm 17:8

Psalm 57:1

Psalm 61:4

Deuteronomy 32:10-11

Ruth 2:12

Matthew 23:37
